‘Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’ Comes To Channel 4 From 17th Sept 2017

The brilliant Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams will come to Channel 4 from Sunday, 17th September 2017 at 9pm the broadcaster has announced.

‘Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams’ is a sci-fi anthology series of 10 epic, ambitious and moving standalone episodes, each set in a different and unique world – some which lie in the far reaches of the universe and time and others which are much, much closer to home. While the stories may be worlds apart, central to each is the poignant and warm exploration of the importance and significance of humanity.

This evening I had the chance to view two of the episodes at a special premiere screening – ‘The Hood Maker’ starring Richard Madden (‘Game of Thrones’), Holliday Grainger (‘Strike’), and ‘Crazy Diamond’ starring the legend that is Steve Buscemi. It’s late, so I’m not going to go into a full review here (watch out for that in the next few days), but I will say, if you’re a fan of sci-fi and Philip K. Dick, you’re in for a spectacular ride!

Each episode is inspired by one of Dick’s renowned shorts stories and has been adapted by an exciting list of leading British and American writers and directors including Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander), Michael Dinner (Justified), Tony Grisoni (Red Riding, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), Jack Thorne (National Treasure, Skins, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Matthew Graham (Life on Mars, Doctor Who), David Farr (The Night Manager), Dee Rees (Mudbound) and Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim).

The series features an all-star cast including Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire, Boss Baby), Greg Kinnear (Heaven is For Real, As Good As It Gets), Mireille Enos (The Catch, The Killing, World War Z), Anna Paquin (True Blood, the X-Men films), Terrence Howard (Empire, Lee Daniel’s The Butler), Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner, Secrets & Lies, The King’s Speech and the Harry Potter films), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Cinderella), Holiday Grainger (The Finest Hours, Cinderella), Mel Rodriguez (Last Man on Earth, Getting On, Little Miss Sunshine), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel, The Departed), Jack Reynor (Macbeth, Free Fire, Jungle Book), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange, The Martian, Top Boy), Geraldine Chaplin (A Monster Calls, Doctor Zhivago), and Bryan Cranston who also serves as an executive producer on the series.
