Bollywood Star Amy Jackson To Play Saturn Girl In ‘Supergirl’

Supergirl will meet Saturn Girl in the latest season of the DC superhero show, and she will be played by Bollywood star Amy Jackson it has been announced.

The British-born actress will star as Imra Ardeen, aka Saturn Girl, “a kind, smart, and strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need. She was born on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and arrives on Earth to help Supergirl battle one of her biggest threats.”

It’s interesting to note that in the comics, Saturn Girl is a founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, a 30th Century inter-galactic team of super-powered young adults. Whether this will come into play on the show remains to be seen, however, there has been a few hints pointing at the Legion. We have seen a Legion Flight Ring pop up in the Fortress of Solitude on Supergirl and in an episode of The Flash. Plus Supergirl’s boyfriend, Mon-El, has been a member of the Legion in the comics. Whilst, in the books, the group is inspired by the legend of Superboy, it wouldn’t be a huge leap to make Supergirl become their inspiration instead for the tv show.

Amy joins a whole raft of new cast members coming to ‘Supergirl’ next season. As we reported a while ago, ‘Smallville’s’ Erica Durance is joining as Kara’s mum Alura, replacing Laura Benanti who couldn’t return due to scheduling conflicts. Carlos Bernard (24’s Tony Almeida) will play father to Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima), girlfriend of Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), Supergirl’s sister.

Other casting includes Odette Annable as Kryptonian ‘worldkiller’ Reign, Yael Grobglas as villain Psi, Carl Lumbly as J’onn J’onzz’s father M’yrnn J’onzz, and Adrian Pasdar as Morgan Edge – on the surface a businessman, but in the comics, also the leader of organized crime group Intergang.

Supergirl‘ and all the other DC shows return to Sky 1 in October 2017.
