I know what you’re thinking… Another day, another medical drama… However, ‘Strange Conditions’ is probably one you should take some notice of given the people behind it.

Firstly, the producers – Danny Strong, ex-Buffy actor turned mega-writer/producer of shows such as ‘Empire’ and ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’, and ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler’. Also, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the producers of massive hit US show ‘This Is Us’.

Secondly, the writer of the series is Wes Jones, writer and producer on the brilliant Showtime series ‘Billions’ starring Damian Lewis & Paul Giamatti, and it’s based on an idea from Henry Finder, editorial director of The New Yorker. I would say that is a team which should not be ignored!

Set five minutes in the future, ‘Strange Conditions’ takes place at the New York Institute of Experimental Medicine – on the bleeding edge of biotechnology and a little beyond. These whiz kids take on only the most singular cases – medical mysteries that will make your jaw drop! Each an expert their own field (medicine, bioethics, law and psychology) with healthy egos – our team clashes in their battle to cure the incurable and expand the boundaries of nature. But just because they can do something, does that mean they should?

Fox US has given ‘Strange Conditions’ a ‘put pilot’ commitment, which is usually a good sign of it going to series, given it means the network has to fork out a huge wad of cash if the show doesn’t go anywhere. Still way to early for UK pickups or air dates, but this is one we will be keeping an eye on.
