Mulder & Scully are back, and the truth is still out there, as The X-Files‘ Season 11 gets a brand new trailer.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return to their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully in a new 10-episode instalment of the classic sci-fi drama. As the duo, along with creator, Chris Carter, took to the stage at NYCC, they revealed a little (although not much!) about what is to come in the new season.

As you can see in the trailer, William B. Davis returns as Cigarette Smoking Man, and the opening episode will reveal a bit more of his backstory. Mitch Pileggi’s Walter Skinner will also get more backstory, and we get the return of Richard Langly (Dean Haglund), one of The Lone Gunmen. Additionally, Carter teased Mulder & Scully “get kissing close,” this season.

‘The X-Files’ originally premiered in September 1993 and ran for 9 seasons, before returning last year as the US’s No. 2 broadcast drama. The series started out as a breakout sci-fi favourite but became a massive global hit and one of the most successful television dramas of all time. Over the course of it’s run it picked up 16 Emmy Awards, 5 Golden Globes and a Peabody Award.

The X-Files Season 11 is currently being shot, but we’re expecting it to return in the early part of 2018. Season 10 of the show ran on Channel 5, but we don’t know yet whether they will pick up Season 11. We’ll let you know when we hear something.
