Meghan Markle Officially Exits ‘Suits’ At The End Of Season 7
Today, USA Network confirmed the *ahem* “shock” announcement that Meghan Markle will be leaving ‘Suits‘ at the end of the current 7th Season. The news comes as a huge surprise to… well, no one…
As we reported a few weeks ago, rumours were swirling that Meghan would be leaving the series at the end of this season. Then with the announcement she would be marrying a certain Harry Winsor next May, that rather confirmed it. What USA Network hasn’t confirmed were the rumours that her co-star, Patrick J. Adams, would also be leaving the show.
“From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement,” said producers of the show in a statement. “Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best.”
Interestingly, this could mean two weddings for Ms Markle in 2018, as it seems likely her character of Rachel will marry her fiance Mike (Adams) on the show, followed by her marriage to Prince Harry next year. Nothing like getting in a bit of a practice run first!
Whilst ‘Suits’ has yet to be confirmed for the 8th Season, the general consensus seems to be that it will happen, despite definitely losing one (possibly two) of its original cast members. They also have to renegotiate contracts with the remaining cast as they all expire at the end of Season 7.
On top of the main show, there is also a spin-off in the works, which follows Gina Torres’ character, Jessica Pearson, as she switches law for politics following her move to Chicago. The Season 7 finale will serve as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off series.
‘Suits‘, which airs on Netflix in the UK, is currently on its mid-season break, but is expected to return in January 2018.
