Netflix has dropped a teaser trailer and a little bit of info for its upcoming supernatural teen-led drama The Innocents, which comes to the streaming service in 2018.

When teenagers Harry and June run away from their repressive family lives to be together, they are thrown into an extraordinary journey of self-discovery that derails their innocent dream. Secrets kept from them by their respective parents test their love to breaking point, and the extraordinary gift they possess unleashes powerful forces intent on dividing them forever.

The 8-episode drama stars Sorcha Groundsell (‘Clique’, ‘Iona’, ‘Sleeping Lions’) as June, Percelle Ascott (‘Wizard vs. Aliens’, ‘The Weekend Movie’) as Harry and Guy Pearce (‘L.A. Confidential’, ‘Memento’) as Halvorson.

The series is actually a British production from New Pictures, who were also behind the BBC/Netflix co-production ‘Requiem’. ‘The Innocents’ is created by Hania Elkington and Simon Duric, both of which appear to be relative newcomers to screenwriting. Duric is also a storyboard artist, having worked on shows and films such as ‘McMafia’, ‘The Crown’, and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

Farren Blackburn (‘The Fades’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Defenders’) is serving as executive producer, alongside Charlie Pattinson, Elaine Pyke and Willow Grylls, and he will direct of 6 of the 8 episodes.

Netflix hasn’t given an air date for The Innocents yet, but we will let you know when we hear more.
