Those of you bemoaning the end of The Originals may not have to wait too long to see their leading man again. Joseph Morgan has landed the main role in the upcoming ‘Gone Baby Gone’ TV series adaptation.

Based on the best-selling novel by Dennis Lehane the ‘Gone Baby Gone’ tv series comes from 20th Century Fox TV and Miramax, who were also the people behind the Ben Affleck movie version which came out in 2007. The story centres on Patrick Kenzie (played by Morgan) and Angela Gennaro, two private detectives who right wrongs the law can’t in the working-class Boston borough of Dorchester, using their wits, street knowledge… and an undeniable chemistry.

Morgan, of course, plays the wonderfully devilish Klaus Mikaelson in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Originals’ spin-off series. Being a Brit actor, earlier in his career, he also popped up in ‘Casualty’ and the Martin Clunes series ‘Doc Martin’. I do hope he’s polishing up on his Boston accent for his latest part!

The show, which is currently at the pilot stage, is written by Robert Levine (‘Black Sails’ co-creator, ‘Human Target’) with Phillip Noyce (‘Clear and Present Danger’, ‘The Bone Collector’, ‘Patriot Games’) directing the pilot episode. Levine and author Dennis Lehane are exec producing.

The Originals is due to return for it’s 5th and final season on 20th April 2018 on The CW in the US. As things currently stand, as far as we know, the 5th Season is likely to land on Netflix UK in August 2018. It’s possible Netflix UK may have done a deal to bring it earlier than that, but at time of writing, August is our best guess.

The as-yet-untitled ‘Gone Baby Gone’ TV series is currently only at the pilot stage, so may not go to series, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
