A New The Vampire Diaries/The Originals Spin-Off Is In Development!

Just when you thought it was all coming to an end, Julie Plec and her ‘The Vampire Diaries’/’The Originals’ team have started pushing forward on a new spin-off series!

The potential new show would be based around the character of Hope Mikaelson, daughter of Klaus and Hayley. Danielle Rose Russell, who is set to play Hope in ‘The Originals’ Season 5, would continue that role. She would be joined by Matt Davis, returning to the character of Alaric Salzman which he played in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Originals’.

Joining them will be Aria Shahghasemi as Hope’s friend Landon, who is also due to appear in the upcoming final season of ‘The Originals’. Other cast includes Quincy Fouse (‘The Goldbergs’), Kaylee Bryant (‘Santa Clarita Diet’) and Jenny Boyd. Their exact roles are being kept under wraps for the moment, although it would seem the new show will revolve around this younger generation and is likely to be set in Mystic Falls at the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted.

CW president Mark Pedowitz had commented back in August that they were considering a spin-off, and that “there have been many conversations about the character Hope,” but they were currently focused on wrapping up the main show’s 5th season first. Plec is set to pitch the new spin-off to The CW and WB with an aim for it to arrive in the 2018/19 season if they like it.

We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
