Netflix’s ‘Sabrina’ Series Casts Ross Lynch As Harvey Kinkle

Netflix’s upcoming ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’ series has found it’s Harvey Kinkle in Ross Lynch it has been announced.

Based on the ‘Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina’ comic book, the as-yet-untitled reboot is a dark coming-of-age tale traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. It’s more in the vein of ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ or ‘The Exorcist’ than the lighthearted Melissa Joan Hart version of the 90’s. Sabrina must wrestle to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her and her family.

Lynch will play Sabrina’s boyfriend Harvey Kinkle. He’s described as the “prince charming of this dark fairy tale.” He is the son of a coal miner, a dreamboat and a dreamer, completely unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart.

The young actor has had quite an interesting career so far. He’s probably best known to our younger readers as Austin Moon in Disney’s musical sitcom ‘Austin & Ally’. However, he then went on to play serial killer Jeff Dahmer in the movie ‘My Friend Dahmer’, which is probably about as far away from Disney as you can get! He is also the lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist for the pop/rock band R5.

Lynch joins Kiernan Shipka (‘Feud: Bette and Joan’, ‘Mad Men’) who landed the titular role of Sabrina. Miranda Otto (‘Homeland’, ’24: Legacy’) takes the role of the authoritarian Aunt Zelda, whilst Lucy Davies (‘The Office’, ‘Wonder Woman’), plays Sabrina’s gentler Aunt Hilda. Jaz Sinclair (‘The Vampire Diaries’) stars as Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind Walker, with Chance Perdomo playing Sabrina’s warlock cousin from England. Richard Coyle (‘Hard Sun’, ‘The Fall’, ‘Coupling’) who stars as Father Blackwood, High Priest of the Church of Night and Dean of the Academy of the Unseen Arts. Finally, Michelle Gomez (‘Doctor Who’) is set to play Mary Wardell, Sabrina’s favourite teacher… who unfortunately becomes possessed by the devil’s handmaiden, Madam Satan!

No news on when the as-yet-untitled Sabrina The Teenage Witch series will land on Netflix, but we will bring you more as we get it.
