E4 has set a May UK air date for The 100‘ Season 5 the channel has announced today.

For those of you needing a bit of a refresher as to where we left things in Season 4, it left our heroes in a very sticky situation as the remaining nuclear reactors on Earth had begun to melt down and were setting the atmosphere on fire. This led to the majority of the group taking refuge in the Second Dawn bunker, whilst Raven’s group were forced to flee back up to the Ark in space. Unfortunately, that meant leave Clarke behind on the surface. The season ended with a 6 year and seven days time jump that revealed Clarke had somehow survived the incoming death wave along with a young nightblood girl. As Clarke tries to make contact with the Ark, a mysterious spacecraft lands on Earth…

As we head into Season 5, Clarke struggles to survive on the desolate, scorched planet surface, while her friends in space come across a long-awaited beacon of hope.

The new season brings with it some new faces too. ‘Peaky Blinders‘ star Jordan Bolger joins the cast as “adrenaline junkie” Zeke Shaw. The character is described as brimming with brains, wit and bravado, with a passion for uncovering the secrets of the universe. This led him to join a space mission to a distant solar system, but fate has sent him back to Earth, where he finds the charred remains of his old world, tribal warfare, shifting alliances and a brutal fight for humanity’s survival.

Clarke’s nightblood sidekick Madi, who we briefly saw at the end of the last season has been recast and will be played by ‘Shadowhunters’ star Lola Flanery. Additionally, Tasya Teles, who plays Echo, has been upgraded to a series regular.

The 100‘ Season 5 comes to E4 on Wednesday, 9th May 2018 at 9pm.
