Gotham Renewed For A 5th & Final Season

Fox has finally made a decision on Gotham and it’s good and bad news. The show will get a 5th Season, but it will also be it’s last.

‘Gotham’ follows the story of the crime-ridden city prior to the arrival of the Dark Knight. The latest season has seen a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) begins to assume responsibility for the city’s well-being. With the help of his ever-faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee) and quiet support of Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk), he will step into this role, all while building up his public persona of the carefree socialite to avoid any suspicion among Gotham’s citizens.

“The fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told,” comments the producers in a statement.

The show has been a huge success for Warner Bros. TV who make the series, although it’s rating on Fox been solid, it’s also not setting the channel alight either. However, the international and streaming sails (which makes money for WB, not Fox) have been extremely good for the studio.

Whilst we’ll be sorry to see it go, 5 Seasons is an acceptable run. Plus I’m not sure how much further you could push the character of Bruce Wayne before he actually becomes full-blown Batman at this point.

Gotham‘ Season 4 is currently airing on E4 in the UK.
