‘Outlander’ Adds 5 New Cast For Season 4, Including ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Star Billy Boyd

Outlander will be adding a hobbit to Season 4 the show has announced!… Well, okay, not actually a hobbit, but actor Billy Boyd, who played Pippin in Peter Jackson’s epic ‘Lord Of The Rings’ trilogy. They have also announced four other new cast members.

Boyd will play Gerald Forbes, a wealthy lawyer in Cross Creek who is friends with his prominent client, Jocasta Cameron (Maria Doyle Kennedy), the youngest sister of Dougal MacKenzie. Along with starring in ‘Lord Of The Rings’, Boyd has also popped up in ‘Snowfall’, ‘Motive’, and ‘Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World’.

The other new cast members include:

Simona Brown, who plays Gayle, best friend and college roommate of Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton), daughter of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe). Browns’ previous work includes playing Tess ‘Kiss Me First’, Roz in ‘Guilt’ and Grace in ‘The Night Manager’.

Caitlin O’Ryan joins the show as Lizzie Wemyss, a Scottish woman who goes on a big adventure with Brianna. As a recent graduate of the Oxford School of Drama, her role in ‘Outlander’ marks her debut on TV… Not a bad place to start!

Natalie Simpson will play Phaedre, personal maid and seamstress to Jocasta Cameron, and a trusted member of the River Run household. Simpson is well known for her stage work with the RSC, and previously appeared on the ‘Les Miserables’ TV mini-series.

Lastly, Tim Downie will take on the role of a real historical figure, Governor William Tryon. William is an ambitious former British officer who used his family connections to land the position of governor… One would suspect he’s going to be causing some problems for our heroes… No stranger to “historical” roles, you may know Downie from his part as Marlowe in ‘Upstart Crow’. He’s also stared in ‘Toast of London’ and the ‘Paddington’ movie.

Outlander‘, which was recently renewed for a 5th & 6th Season, will return for Season 4 in the Autumn on Amazon Prime UK.
