Zachary Levi Joins ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ In Season 2
‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘ just got a bit more marvellous by adding Zachary Levi Amazon has announced today.
The series comes from renowned creator Amy Sherman-Palladino (‘Gilmore Girls’) and Executive Producer Daniel Palladino (‘Family Guy’), and is written and directed by Sherman-Palladino and Palladino. It stars Golden Globe winner Rachel Brosnahan (‘House of Cards’) as Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a 1958 New York City woman who has everything she’s ever wanted – the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent – one that changes her life forever.
Other cast members include Golden Globe winner and three-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoub (‘Monk’) as Midge’s father Abe Weissman, Alex Borstein (‘Family Guy’) as Susie Myerson, Michael Zegen (‘Boardwalk Empire’) as Midge’s husband Joel Maisel and Marin Hinkle (‘Two and a Half Men’) as Midge’s mother Rose Weissman.
Levi joins the cast as an eclectic Manhattan doctor who suddenly starts orbiting the Weissman/Maisel world.
Zachary Levi is probably best known for his roles as Chuck Bartowski in ‘Chuck’, and Fandral in the ‘Thor’ movies (a part he took over from Josh Dallas who couldn’t reprise the role after the first film due to his ‘Once Upon A Time’ schedule.) He’s also starred in ‘Alias Grace’, ‘Heroes Reborn’, and is about to appear as DC superhero ‘Shazam’ in the upcoming movie.
Interesting side note – the character of Shazam was originally called Captain Marvel until a legal battle put an end to the name. So now we have the original Captain Marvel starring in ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’… which we think is just marvellous!
