Tomer Capon Joins Karl Urban & Antony Starr In Amazon’s Comic Book Series ‘The Boys’

Amazon has found the last member of The Boys for their adaptation of the Garth Ennis comic book, as Israel actor Tomer Capon joins the cast as Frenchie.

The show comes from ‘Preacher’s’ Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen, along with ‘Timeless’ & ‘Supernatural’ creator Eric Kripke, and is set in a world where costumed heroes soar through the sky and masked vigilantes prowl the night… But sometimes you need someone to keep the superheroes in line when they become reckless, and that’s where ‘The Boys’ come in.

Billy Butcher (Karl Urban – ‘Star Trek’, ‘Dredd’), The Frenchman – aka Frenchie (Capon), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso – ‘The Mysteries of Laura’, ‘Deception’), The Female (Karen Fukuhara – ‘Suicide Squad’) and new recruit Wee Hughie (Jack Quaid – ‘The Hunger Games’, Vinyl’), form a team, backed by the CIA, designed to control and, if necessary, take out those superpowered beings who overstep the mark. It’s fair to say, the group are not a fan of the “capes” and set out on a mission to take down the world’s corrupt superheroes armed only with blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

Capon’s character, Frenchie, is The Boys unpredictable wild card. When the situation calls for it, he can be a brutal warrior, and lives a life of no attachments or responsibilities.

The alleged “superhero” group is led by Antony Starr (‘Banshee’) as Homelander, with Nathan Mitchell (‘iZombie’) as Black Noir, Dominique McElligott (‘House of Cards’) as Queen Maeve, Erin Moriarty (‘Jessica Jones’) as Starlight, and Chace Crawford (‘Gossip Girl’) as The Deep.

I think it’s fair to say Tomer Capon is probably better known in his home country than to western audiences having appeared in Israel series ‘Hostages’ and Israel Netflix show ‘Fauda’. He made his film debut in the Natalie Portman-directed movie, ‘A Tale of Love and Darkness’ and is currently starring in the hit Israel series ‘When Heroes Fly’.

The Boys has been picked up by Amazon for a straight-to-series order. Kripke is writing the show with Goldberg & Rogen directing. All three exec produce with Kripke serving as showrunner. The series is expected to arrive on Amazon Prime in 2019.
