HBO Releases First Trailer For ‘True Detective’ Season 3. Coming To Sky Atlantic in 2019.

True Detective returns for its 3rd Season in 2019, and HBO has just released their first little teaser of what is to come.

The new season of the anthology series sees is set in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, and sees Mahershala Ali (‘Moonlight’) play Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas. He is joined by Stephen Dorff (‘Star’, ‘Blade’) as Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator who has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime. Carmen Ejogo (‘The Girlfriend Experience’, ‘Fantastic Beasts’), also stars as Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.

Additional cast members include Josh Hopkins, who will play Jim Dobkins, a private attorney in Fayetteville, Arkansas involved in deposing state police detectives in an ongoing investigation. Scoot McNairy is Tom, a father who suffers a terrible loss which ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over ten years. Mamie Gummer stars as Lucy Purcell, a young mother of two at the centre of a tragic crime. Jodi Balfour, Lonnie Chavis, Ray Fisher, Michael Greyeyes, Jon Tenney, Rhys Wakefield, Sarah Gadon, Emily Nelson, Brandon Flynn and Michael Graziadei also star.

The 8-episode 3rd season of the crime drama is entirely penned by show creator Nic Pizzolatto, with the exception of episode 4 which was co-written with ‘Deadwood’ creator David Milch. Pizzolatto will also serve as showrunner and make his directorial debut this season. Jeremy Saulnier (‘Green Room’, ‘Blue Ruin’) joins Pizzolatto in the director’s chair for a number of episodes.

True Detective‘ Season 3 premieres on HBO in the USA in January 2019. Sky Atlantic will air the series in the UK, although haven’t confirmed a date yet, other than 2019.
