DC’s ‘Titans’ Renewed For Season 2

As New York Comic-Con kicks off in the Big Apple, DC has dropped their first major announcement. During the world premiere panel at the show, they revealed Titans has already been picked up for a 2nd Season.

‘Titans’ follows Robin as he emerges from the shadows of Gotham City to lead a new group of heroes – Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy. The newly formed crew of young superheroes join forces to fight their inner demons and save the planet from evil. They soon realize that alone they’re broken, but together they’re Titans.

Written and produced by Akiva Goldsman (‘Star Trek: Discovery’, ‘The Dark Tower’, ‘Fringe’), DC God Geoff Johns (‘The Flash’, ‘Arrow’) and the Arrowverse’s Greg Berlanti, the series stars Brenton Thwaites (‘Home & Away’, ‘Maleficent’) stars as Dick Grayson, Teagan Croft (‘Home and Away’, ‘The Osiris Child’) as Raven, Anna Diop (’24: Legacy’) plays Starfire, and Ryan Potter (‘Big Hero 6’) takes the role of Beast Boy. Alan Ritchson (‘Smallville’) plays Hawk with Minka Kelly (‘Friday Night Lights’) rounding out the members of the Titans playing his partner Dove.

Lucky fans at NYCC got to watch the opening two episodes of ‘Titans’ during the panel, and the general consensus has been overwhelmingly positive, citing it’s darker (but not too dark) tone. Geoff Johns took to the stage to talk about finding a balance between the DC Cinematic Universe and The DC/CW shows. “We wanted to do something different from everything else out there,” commented Johns. “We wanted to arrive at a tone that wasn’t as welcoming as some of the DC shows have been, nor as nihilistic as some of the films have been.” That plan appears to have paid off.

Titanswill air on Netflix outside of the US. Still no exact air date yet, other than “coming soon”, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
