Channel 4 has commissioned a new drama anthology trilogy from ‘Love + Hate’ writer/director Dominic Savage the channel announced today. Samantha Morton (‘Minority Report’), Vicky McClure (‘This is England’) and Gemma Chan (‘Humans’, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’) are set to star.

Created by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Dominic Savage, the stories for each film have been developed and co-authored with the leading actors, with themes including relationships, identity and empowerment. The trilogy explores the experience of three women in moments that are emotionally raw, thought-provoking and utterly personal.

Me+You Productions, with Richard Yee and Dominic Savage, will serve as executive producers. Manpreet Dosanjh and Beth Wills will oversee production for Channel 4. The series producer is Me+You co-founder Krishnendu Majumdar with co-producers John Pocock (‘Chewing Gum’) and Faiza Tovey (‘Uncle’). The series was co-funded by Sky Vision, who will also handle global distribution.

“Dominic Savage’s work always speaks to the most contemporary and urgent of questions, taking a scalpel to modern life,” comments Krishnendu Majumdar, Series Producer and co-founder of Me+You Productions. “We are thrilled to produce Dominic’s latest series of films and to help realise his unique vision which fits into Me+You’s remit of making authored cinematic work.”

Samantha Morton has most recently been starring in Hulu drama ‘Harlots’, but is soon to appear in Season 9 of ‘The Walking Dead’ as the fearsome Alpha. Vicky McClure has starred in ‘This Is England’ as Lol, and Kate Fleming in ‘Line of Duty’. She also appeared as reporter Karen White in ‘Broadchurch’. Gemma Chan is, of course, best known for her role as Mia/Anita in ‘Humans’, but recently also starred in the box-office hit, ‘Crazy Rich Asians’. She can next be seen on screen joining the MCU as Minn-Erva in ‘Captain Marvel’.

“This is exactly the sort of contemporary risk-taking drama that embodies C4’s DNA,” adds Richard Yee, Executive Producer and co-founder of Me+You. “Everyone at Me+You Productions is very appreciative of the support from Channel 4 and Sky Vision in bringing this timely series of films to the screen.”

The series was shot over the summer and autumn of 2018. Channel 4 has yet to give a broadcast date, but we’ll let you know when we hear something.
