Netflix Signs Overall Deal With Emmy-Nominated Marti Noxon

Netflix has signed a multi-year deal with the prolific Emmy-nominated writer, producer and director Marti Noxon the streaming giant has announced. I’m aware this news will mean a lot to some people, and others will be saying “Marti who?”, so here is a bit of background about why this is exciting news.

Marti Noxon has been a writer/producer on many shows over the years. She first came to our attention as writer/producer on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Angel’, but then went on to write and exec produce other huge shows such as ‘Mad Men’, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Glee’. More recently, she created the brilliant Peabody Award-winning ‘UnREAL’, along with ‘Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce’, ‘Dietland’ and the critically acclaimed mini-series ‘Sharp Objects’. Additionally, Noxon wrote and made her feature directorial debut with the powerful Netflix original film ‘To The Bone’, which premiered in competition at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

“Marti Noxon is a brilliant and visionary creator who explores emotional depths to reveal the inner lives and struggles of complex, modern women,” commented Cindy Holland, Vice President, Original Content at Netflix. “Her work is often both brave and vulnerable, with a distinct voice, sense of humour and tone that is uniquely her own.”

“Who can resist the allure of Netflix?” adds Noxon. “Not only do they continually produce ground-breaking and visually stunning content, they’ve developed a platform that’s so influential it’s become a verb. I ‘Netflix’ at home, happily, and now I’m even more excited to ‘Netflix’ for a living.”

Under the deal, Noxon will produce new series programming exclusively for Netflix. Additionally, Netflix will have a first-look option on Noxon’s feature projects through the pact, as well. She will continue to produce all projects through her production company, Tiny Pyro. Maria Grasso will make the move to Netflix, as well, continuing in her role as President of Tiny Pyro.

No announcement yet on what Noxon’s first Netflix project will be, but it will definitely be one to look out for.
