BBC One Sets January Premiere Dates For ‘Silent Witness’ Season 22 & ‘Death In Paradise’ Season 8

January will see premieres for two of BBC One’s crime dramas, as Silent Witness’ Season 22 & Death In Paradise’ Season 8 return in the new year.

As ‘Silent Witness’ returns, so does Nikki (Emilia Fox) who is fresh from her trip to the States. It’s not long before the Lyell unit are called in to investigate an attack against a trans man. When two further attacks are reported, one leaving a potential witness, it becomes clear that the team is facing an outbreak of violence against the trans community. With the Lyell under increasing financial scrutiny and frustration growing between the team and the acting DCI, can they pull it together to find the killer before they strike again?

Emilia Fox, David Caves, Richard Lintern and Liz Carr reprise their roles as Dr Nikki Alexander, Jack Hodgson, Professor Thomas Chamberlain and Clarissa Mullery. They are joined by Andrew Knott, Heather Peace, Johann Myers and Jemima Rooper.

Silent Witness’ Season 22 premieres, Tuesday, 8th January 2019 at 9pm on BBC One.

The return to ‘Death In Paradise’ begins with a popular local radio DJ being killed live on air, and a group of friends celebrating their 50th birthdays finding one of its members dead, leaving the police team face some complex challenges. DI Jack (Ardal O’Hanlon) leads the squad as they give billionaires a run for their money, and an investigation gets them in hot water. Romance is on the cards for DS Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert) as lines between her personal and professional life become blurred, whilst Officer JP Hoope (Tobi Bakare) has his work cut out as he mentors the newest recruit, Officer Ruby Patterson (Shyko Amos – ‘A Very English Scandal’).

Season 8 also sees Don Warrington return as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, along with Élizabeth Bourgine as Restaurateur turned Mayor Catherine Bordey. Danny John-Jules’s Officer Dwayne Myers won’t be back this year, after he decided to leave to “get back on stage” and add a bit more “razzmatazz” in his life. He can, however, be seen in a new series of ‘Red Dwarf’ later in 2019.

Death In Paradise’ Season 8 premieres, Thursday, 10th January 2019 at 9pm on BBC One.
