‘Z Nation’ Cancelled By Syfy (US) After 5 Seasons

It seems there are some devious US networks (mainly the ones owned by NBC) trying to slip out bad news whilst people are distracted with Christmas. Syfy (owned by NBCUniversal) has cancelled Z Nation after 5 Seasons.

The news came from Producer David Michael Latt in a video posted to social media saying “We thought this would be the best tell you what’s going on. You’ve supported us for 5 insanely wonderful seasons… so we wanted to tell you face-to-face, that we were not renewed for Season 6. We’re stopping at Season 5. We’re very sad, but we’re also really grateful with the opportunities that we had on the show.” You can see the full video below.

‘Z Nation’ was a post-apocalyptic drama which followed a group of survivors trying to get Murphy (Keith Allan), the only known survivor of a zombie bite, to a viral lab to create a cure for the zombie plague. Murphy, however, has other ideas…

Latt goes on to say, whilst this is the end of ‘Z Nation’, all is not totally lost. They have a new zombie series called Black Summer‘, which is somewhat of an origin/prequel story to ‘Z Nation’, and that will still be launching on Netflix worldwide exclusively in Spring 2019.

‘Black Summer’ sees Jaime King (‘Hart of Dixie’, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’) star as a mother, torn from her daughter, who embarks upon a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing to find her. Thrust alongside a small group of American refugees, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.

All 5 Seasons of ‘Z Nation‘ aired on Pick TV in the UK, but look out for Black Summer‘ in Spring 2019 on Netflix.
