Nathan Fillion is finally back on UK TV as Sky Witness & NOW TV set a March UK premiere date for ‘The Rookie’.
Written by ‘Castle’ and ‘The Following’ producer/writer Alexi Hawley, Fillion plays John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD. Based on a true story, it sees the middle-aged Nolan uproot himself from his provincial, small-town life, and move to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a cop. Joining the other rookie cops, most of which are 20 years younger than himself, he must navigate his way through the often dangerous, and sometimes humorous, new career choice, to make his second shot at life count.
The other cast includes ‘Dark Matter’ star Melissa O’Neil as Lucy, another rookie in the LAPD who is struggling with a domineering training officer and seems to be developing a budding romance with Nolan; Eric Winter (‘Rosewood’, ‘Secrets & Lies’) as Tim Bradford, the aforementioned domineering training officer; And Afton Williamson (‘The Night Of’, ‘Banshee’) as the newly promoted Talia Bishop, who is given the job of training Nolan.
The show comes from The Mark Gordon Company (‘Designated Survivor’, ‘Quantico’, ‘Ray Donovan’) and ABC Studios, with Hawley and Fillion exec producing alongside Michelle Chapman and Jon Steinberg.
‘The Rookie’ Season 1 will premiere Thursday, 21st March 2019 (exact time TBC) on Sky Witness & NOW TV.
