‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Renewed For Season 7

After rescuing Brooklyn Nine-Nine last year, NBC are not letting the show go anywhere, as the US broadcaster announces the cop comedy will return for Season 7.

Created by the ‘Parks and Rec’ pairing of Dan Goor and Michael Schur ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ stars Andy Samberg as Det. Jake Peralta, a talented but carefree detective at Brooklyn’s 99th Precinct. Andre Braugher plays the Holt, captain of the precinct, whilst Terry Crews plays Holt’s next-in-command – a muscle-bound human mountain who loves nothing more than his three little daughters, except for a fresh carton of full-fat yoghurt. Since it’s debut on September 2013, the show has won Golden Globes, Emmys, and Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

“It’s been one of our great joys as a network to give ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ a second life,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “Cheers to Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York’s finest into New York’s funniest.”

The renewal doesn’t come as a huge surprise after NBC extended the Season 6 run back in September. Despite switching networks in the US, the audience followed, making the comedy one of the strongest digital performers on the NBC schedule, deriving 45% of its “live plus seven day plus digital” rating in adults 18-49 from non-linear sources, the highest percentage among NBC shows.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘ airs on E4 in the UK, with Season 6 due to premiere in the next few months.
