‘Strike Back’ Renewed For 8th And Final Season

Strike Back is set to strike back on final time, as its announced the Sky/Cinemax co-production will return for an 8th and final season.

The series launched originally back in 2010, produced by Sky, with Richard Armitage in the lead role. However, it wasn’t until Cinemax joined as co-producers in Season 2, and the introduction of Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) and Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) that the show really took off. When the duo decided to call it quits after 4 seasons in 2015, it looked like things might end, but then in 2017 the series returned with a whole new cast and a new mission.

“I am delighted we’re coming back for a final season. STRIKE BACK is a show that’s always raised the bar for small-screen action, and we’re looking forward to doing that one last time,” commented showrunner Jack Lothian. “There are plenty of twists and turns ahead, but I can promise one thing – we’re going out with a bang.”

Season 7 of the drama, which returns tonight on Sky One, sees a Russian bomber crash in the South China Sea, sending the covert special-ops soldiers of Section 20 to investigate. Whilst there, the team cross paths with Katrina Zarkova (Yasemin Allen – ‘Matter of Respect’, ‘Water and Fire’), a rogue Russian operative with questionable loyalties.

Now under orders of a new commanding officer, Col. Alexander Coltrane (‘Battlestar Galactica’s Jamie Bamber), Thomas “Mac” McAllister (Warren Brown), Samuel Wyatt (Daniel MacPherson) and Gracie Novin (Alin Sumarwata) must pursue the stolen contents of the Russian jet across Southeast Asia.

Working alongside the Malaysian police to shut down a Triad gang in Kuala Lumpur, the team uncover a corrupt plot by a wealthy Indian businesswoman running for Parliament and plunge into the jungles of the Golden Triangle in Myanmar, facing off against mercenary drug agents and terrifying warlords, as they uncover a conspiracy that threatens to push the world to the brink of global conflict.

Strike Back: Silent War‘ (aka Season 7… or Season 6 if you’re in the US…) premieres tonight, Thursday, 28th February at 9pm on Sky One & Now TV.
