ITV Renews ‘Vera’ For Season 10 & ‘Endeavour’ For Season 7

Get set for more British crime drama as ITV renews both Vera and Endeavour for brand new seasons.

‘Vera’ sees award winning actress Brenda Blethyn will return as DCI Vera Stanhope for a 10th Season. She is joined again by Kenny Doughty as Detective Sergeant Aiden Healy, who over the years has proved himself to be a strong and reliable partner to Stanhope. Completing Vera’s team is Jon Morrison who plays DC Kenny Lockhart, Riley Jones who plays DC Mark Edwards, Ibinabo Jack who plays DC Jacqueline Williams and Paul Kaye who returns as Pathologist Dr. Malcolm Donahue.

“Along with the rest of the cast of ‘Vera’, I’m delighted to be embarking on series ten,” commented Blethyn on the renewal. “The enthusiasm and warmth shown to ‘Vera’ has been overwhelming and we can’t wait to get started. Newcastle here we come!”

‘Endeavour’ has been recommissioned for a 7th Season, which sees Shaun Evans return as young Morse alongside Roger Allam as mentor DI Fred Thursday. Written once again by Russell Lewis, who has penned all of the 27 Endeavour screenplays to date, the new series will be set in 1970 and production will begin later this year for transmission in 2020. Filming will take place in Oxford and the surrounding area.

“We’ve been thrilled with the response to Series 6,” comments Damien Timmer, MD of Mammoth Screen who make the drama. “It’s testament to Russell Lewis’ continuing cleverness and also the brilliant partnership between Shaun Evans and Roger Allam as Endeavour Morse and Fred Thursday. The 1970s are calling us, and we can’t wait!”

‘Endeavour’ was recently voted the 4th greatest British crime drama of all time in a poll conducted by Radio Times. The latest series launched with a consolidated audience of 6.9m and a 27% share, marking Endeavour’s biggest audience since 2014. Season 9 of ‘Vera’, which aired earlier this year, averaged 7.9 million viewers and is one of ITV’s best sellers internationally having been sold to more than 150 territories worldwide.
