Get ready for more soggy bottoms, as Channel 4 sign a new deal which will keep ‘The Great British Bake Off‘ on air until 2021.
Channel 4 has agree a new deal with ‘Bake Off’ creators Love Productions which will see the popular cooking series return for a 10th Season later this year. They have also agreed two subsequent seasons, meaning the show is now renewed up until Season 12.
It was also announced today that for the first time ‘Junior Bake Off’ will be broadcast on Channel 4. As part of this agreement, 3 new seasons will be made by Love Productions – the first will air on Channel 4 later in 2019.
“Over the last two years The Great British Bake Off has become one of the best loved programmes on Channel 4, embodying the warmth, mischief and inclusivity for which the channel is known,” comments Channel 4 Director of Programmes, Ian Katz. “We’re delighted to be continuing our fantastically collaborative partnership with Love Productions and especially to be discovering a new generation of British baking talent with Junior Bake Off.”
The multi-award winning hit show first aired on Channel 4 in 2017, taking the rights from the BBC after 6 years. The 8th series of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ was the biggest Channel 4 series in over 6 years (9.0m average/33.8% share) and the biggest series for young audiences on any channel that year (2.6m/54.5% per episode). A year later the 9th series continued to be the biggest title on Channel 4, increasing audience share for young audiences as well as all individuals (8.9m average / 35.4%).

It seems particularly appropriate to be announcing news of the extension on Channel 4 as we enjoy Bake Off’s tenth anniversary on British television.”
‘The Great British Bake Off‘ will return to Channel 4 later in 2019 for Season 10.
