It’s the end of the road for the staff of Pied Piper, as HBO and the showrunners announce Season 6 of ‘Silicon Valley‘ will be it’s last.
‘Silicon Valley’ follows introverted computer programmer Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) and his start-up company Piped Piper, as he tries to navigate the choppy waters of the high-tech gold rush. Season 5 saw Richard, Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani), Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) and Jared (Zach Woods) move to new offices as they attempt to debut their decentralised internet platform, PiperNet.
“Silicon Valley has been a career and life highlight for us,” commented series executive producers/showrunners Mike Judge and Alec Berg said. “We’ll miss it desperately, but we’ve always let Pied Piper’s journey guide the way, and Season 6 seems to be the fitting conclusion. We are forever indebted to our incredible cast, crew, and partners at HBO. At a certain point, there’s only so much we can do to make the world a better place.”
The news of the series coming to an end doesn’t come as a huge shock as there had been whispers about the next season being a final one for our beloved tech geeks for a while. Production on Season 6 was also delayed slightly due to co-showrunner Alec Berg being tied up on the brilliant ‘Barry’, which he also co-created and serves as showrunner. The final season of ‘Silicon Valley’ is set to air later this year and will consist of 7 episodes, which is slightly shorter than the previous seasons which have ranged from 8 to 10 episodes.
‘Silicon Valley‘ Season 6 will arrive later this year on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
