‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 5 World Premiere In Birmingham – Photos, Videos & News!

Last night, we had the opportunity to head into Birmingham to chat with the cast of Peaky Blinders‘ Season 5, and also see the opening episode (and a little of episode 2 as well!) Whilst we can’t tell you anything about the episodes themselves, other than to say you really are not going to be disappointed, we did get lots of photos, video interviews, and little bits of information about the season… and the fact there are at least two more seasons coming after this one!

We had the chance to catch up with some of the cast of the show on the red carpet before the premiere, including Sophie Rundle (Ada Thorne, née Shelby), Finn Cole (Michael Gray), Natasha O’Keeffe (Lizzie Shelby née Stark), Harry Kirton (Finn Shelby), Packy Lee (Johnny Dogs), and Daryl McCormack (who takes over the role of Isaiah Jesus from Jordan Bolger). You can see all their interview in the video below.

Once inside the venue, which this year was the lovely Birmingham Town Hall, creator and writer Steven Knight introduced the episode we were about to watch. It was at this point he not only were they working on Seasons 6 and 7, but also that they plan to shoot a lot of the next season, and most of the following season in Birmingham, which would be a big change. Whilst the series is set in Brum, a lot of it is shot in Liverpool, due to the huge amount of modernisation in Birmingham’s architecture making it unsuitable for a historical drama. They also frequently shoot elements at the Black Country Museum, essentially using it as a pre-build 1920’s themed film studio backlot.

The 5th Season finds the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.

Alongside Murphy, the new season also features returning cast members Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Kate Phillips, Natasha O’Keeffe, Aidan Gillen, Jack Rowan, Charlie Murphy, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Harry Kirton, Packy Lee, Ned Dennehy, Ian Peck and Benjamin Zephaniah.

They will be joined by new cast members Sam Claflin (‘The Nightingale, Adrift’, ‘Journey’s End’), Anya Taylor-Joy (‘Split’, ‘The Witch’), Brian Gleeson (‘Phantom Thread’, ‘Logan Lucky’), Neil Maskell (‘Happy New Year’, ‘In Darkness’), Kate Dickie (‘The Cry’, ‘The Witch’), Cosmo Jarvis (‘Calm With Horses’, ‘Lady Macbeth’)and Emmett J Scanlan (‘Safe’, and Lobo in ‘Krypton’), Elliot Cowan (‘The Spanish Princess’, ‘Krypton’), Charlene McKenna (‘Ripper Street’, ‘Pure Mule’), Andrew Koji (‘Warrior’, ‘The Innocence’) and Daryl McCormack (‘A Very English Scandal’) for the fifth series.

Peaky Blinders‘ Season 5 will premiere later this year on BBC One.
