Series 4 was on BBC Two, not BBC One.

Will there be a season 4?

Season 3 finished off quite well, so probably not, but is there any official news as to whether it’s finished or not?

Do you mean to BBC One? Yes, it will, but only after it has finished on Amazon

Can you confirm that “then air on the BBC1 afterwards” means in 2015 sometime? That’s what I’ve read on some sites, but I’ve not been able to find confirmation anywhere?

Glad I signed the petition to shame the BBC into continuing making this terrific drama. Really HAPPY their coming back. Whoever it was at the BBC that cancelled this show is in the wrong job! Can’t wait for series 3.

People power in action. Great to see a first rate show back again. Shame on the BBC for dumping it. We are awash in a sea of talent shows, cookery shows, reality shows annd property shows. Along with Dr Whon and a handfull of other shows Ripper street stands out like a saphire in a sea of liquid crap.

I agree. There are too many unscripted programmes on (not just the BBC) albeit many are on daytime TV. It is therefore great to see an underperforming scripted drama given a second chance. Personally I found it underwhelming and it didn’t pass the three episode test.
