‘The Walking Dead’: Fox UK Announces Oct UK Premiere For Season 10 & Release First Look Trailer
Today at SDCC, ‘The Walking Dead‘ announced it will return for Season 10 on AMC from Sunday, Oct 6th in the US, which was followed by FOX UK confirming the series will air Monday, 7th October 2019 at 9pm on this side of the Atlantic. They also announced a couple of new faces to the cast.
During the SDCC TWD panel, exec producer Gale Ann Hurd revealed Thora Birch (‘Parenthood’, ‘Ghost World’) and Kevin Carroll (‘Snowfall’, ‘The Leftovers’) would be joining the zombie series for the next season. Birch is set to play a Whisperer called Gamma, who is fiercely protective of their “beloved” leader Alpha (Samantha Morton). Carroll will play Virgil, described as a “resourceful” survivor “desperately trying to get home to his family.”
Whilst neither of those characters are from Robert Kirkman’s recently concluded comic book, earlier in the week, showrunner Angela Kang announced they would be bringing in comic book character Dante, although he will be somewhat changed. She describes him as a “roguish, fast-talking, sometimes charming, sometimes annoying guy who can sometimes put his foot in his mouth, but is an interesting presence in the comics.” Whilst in the books he serves as a love interest for Maggie, in the show “the context is a little different,” she adds. “He will play an important role in the story in Alexandria. So we’re excited about that.”
In other casting news, Danai Gurira confirmed the rumours which had been floating around for a while… This will be her last outing as katana-wielding badass Michonne, and she only appears in a few episodes of Season 10. You can see her emotional announcement below.

Earlier in the day, WTD Chief Content Officer Scott Gimple announced that ‘Fear The Walking Dead‘, which airs on AMC UK and Amazon Prime over here, would be returning for a 6th Season. He also revealed a little more about the new spin-off series.
We knew the as-yet-untitled show focuses on two young female protagonists, as the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. He now adds that whilst these new young adults have only known a world filled with walkers, they grew up protected behind walls in (relative) comfort and safety. “They know what walkers are, they know how to kill them, but they’ve never done it,” he commented, adding “We’re going to see some of these kids become heroes, and some become villains.”
Additionally, it was announced Annet Mahendru (‘The Americans’, ‘Tyrant’) and Aliyah Royale (‘The Red Line’, ‘Major Crimes’) join previously announced cast members Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston on the new show.
‘The Walking Dead‘ Season 10 will premiere Monday, 7th October 2019 at 9pm on FOX UK. The drama will air Sunday, Oct 6th on AMC in the US.
