D23: First Trailer Arrives For ‘Star Wars’ Series The Mandalorian’

by Dave Elliott

This weekend, it’s Disney’s huge D23 Expo, which means lots of news from the mouse-house, kicking off with a trailer for ‘Star Wars’ series The Mandalorian, which comes to Disney+ (for countries that can get it) on November 12th.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. ‘The Mandalorian’ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The trailer doesn’t give a whole lot away in terms of plot, but we are treated to some spectacular visuals, and shots of the cast which includes ‘Narcos’ & ‘Game Of Thrones’ star Pedro Pascal in the titular role, with Gina Carano (‘Deadpool’), Giancarlo Esposito (‘Breaking Bad’), Emily Swallow (‘Supernatural’), Carl Weathers (‘Predator’), Omid Abtahi (‘American Gods’), Werner Herzog (‘Grizzly Man’), and Nick Nolte (‘Affliction’).

The voiceover at the end is legendary director, screenwriter, author, & actor Werner Herzog. Who else would you want to deliver the only speech in the trailer? “Bounty hunting is a complicated profession,” his character comments. “Don’t you agree?”

The Mandalorianwill premiere when Disney+ launches November 12 in US, Canada, Netherlands, and Australia… Frustratingly, there is still no launch date for Disney+ in the UK. We do know the services is due to release in most major markets within the first two years, but let us hope we don’t have to wait that long for it! We will let you know when we hear more.
