Sky Atlantic has released the first trailer for ZeroZeroZero, an adaptation of Roberto Saviano’s book from the people behind ‘Gomorrah’.

‘ZeroZeroZero’ tells the story of the brutal drug trade, but in an interestingly unique way. Rather than just following the people, the drama also follows a shipment of cocaine from the Americas to Europe, and looks at the different groups of power-hungry criminals, including Mexican cartels and the Calabrian mafia, and the corrupt businessmen fighting for control of the cocaine trade. The international series is multi-language, featuring English, Spanish, and Italian in roughly equal proportions.

“Nobody has told the story of how shipments of tons of cocaine go through the ocean and then actually arrive in Europe,” commented Sky Italia chief of content Andrea Scrosati when the series was commissioned. “This happens through a broken system that actually has people sitting in an office wearing suits and ties basically moving around containers full of cocaine, as if they were moving around containers full of microwave ovens.”

The eight-part drama stars Andrea Riseborough (‘Waco’, ‘Bloodline’), Dane DeHaan (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’), Gabriel Byrne (‘Maniac’, ‘The Usual Suspects’), Giuseppe De Domencio (‘#Goldfish’), Adriano Chiaramida (‘The Young Montalbano’), Harold Torres (‘Run Coyote Run’, ‘El Chapo’), Tcheky Karyo (‘Baptiste’, ‘The Missing’) and Francesco Colella (‘Trust’).

Sollima (‘Gomorrah’, ‘Sicario 2: Soldado’), Leonardo Fasoli (‘Gomorrah’) and Mauricio Katz (‘Maniac’, ‘The Bridge’) created, write and exec produce the series. Sollima, Janus Metz (‘Borg McEnroe’, ‘True Detective’) and Pablo Trapero (‘The Clan’, ‘Carancho’) direct. Sky, Canal+ and Amazon produce.

ZeroZeroZero‘ will premiere on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK, and Amazon Prime in the US in 2020.
