Netflix has released the first full trailer for Season 1 of psychological sci-fi drama The I-Land which premieres Thursday, 12th September 2019.

‘The I-Land‘ comes from ‘Van Helsing’ writer Neil LaBute and follows ten people who wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there. As they set off on a trek to try to get back home, they soon discover this world is not quite right… Faced with the island’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves – or die as their worst ones.

Unlike the previous trailer, this one actually gives you a better idea of what the show is about. The strapline reads “Chosen… tested… a group of strangers will soon find out that paradise isn’t all it seems…”, so it does appear that the group are in some kind of simulated psychological experiment. As one character in the trailer points out, “If you die in there, you die out here, too,” so they certainly are not safe… Imagine if someone took ‘Lost’, ‘The Matrix’, ‘Black Mirror’, and ‘The Hunger Games’, then threw them all in a blender together!

Kate Bosworth (‘The Long Road Home’, ‘Still Alice’) stars as KC and serves as a producer on the series. Natalie Martinez (‘Under the Dome’), Michelle Veintimilla (‘Gotham’), Alex Pettyfer (‘Magic Mike’), Sibylla Deen (‘The Last Ship’), Kyle Schmid (‘Being Human’), Ronald Peet (‘Defectives’), Kota Eberhardt (‘Dark Phoenix’), Anthony Lee Medina (‘Flesh and Bone’) and Gilles Geary (‘Spirit Warriors’) also star.

LaBute serves as showrunner, director and writer for the 7-episode series. Jonathan Scarfe (‘Van Helsing’) also joins on the directing side, with Lucy Teitler (‘Mr. Robot’) lending a hand with the writing. The series is produced by Nomadic Pictures Entertainment.

The I-Land‘ Season 1 premieres Thursday, 12th September 2019 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
