Apple has released a new teaser trailer and November premiere date for M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming TV+ series Servant.

The psychological thriller from follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home. Following the death of their child, Sean and Dorothy Turner gets a life-like doll as part of their “coping therapy”. Dorothy becomes so enamoured with their new “child”, she hires a nanny to watch “her”…

Toby Kebbell and Lauren Ambrose star as Sean and Dorothy, whilst Nell Tiger Free plays a Leanne Grayson, their young nanny. Kebbel has starred in movies such as ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, ‘Kong: Skull Island’ and tv series ‘The Street’. Ambrose has appeared in shows such as ‘The X Files’, ‘Torchwood’, ‘Six Feet Under’ and ‘Party of Five’. Nell Tiger Free is probably best known for her role as Myrcella Baratheon in ‘Game of Thrones’, and more recently has starred in the mini-series ‘Too Old to Die Young’. ‘Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint also stars as Julian Pearce, Sean’s brother.

The series is executive produced and directed by Shyamalan, the man behind movies such as ‘The Sixth Sense’, ‘Unbreakable’, ‘Glass’ and ‘Split’. Tony Basgallop (‘Berlin Station’, ’24: Live Another Day’, ‘Outcast’) created the series and wrote all 10 episodes.

Interestingly for a drama format, the episodes will only be 30 minutes long. “We’ve all grown up with 30-minute situation comedies, the sitcom – this is a sit-thriller,” commented Shyamalan at yesterdays NYCC panel. “With television, you can have a different trajectory of movement, because you’re going for 30 minutes, you gobble them up. There’s no fat on the bone.”
