Time to wave your Union Jacks as we head into the British TV Show of the Year category! Last year we saw ‘Bodyguard’ crush the competition, and with no ‘Doctor Who’ to get in the way, it left things wide open for a new winner. Here are the shows you voted the best of British.
British TV Show of the Year
Nominees: Brassic – Sky One, Call The Midwife – BBC One, Flack – W, Good Omens – Amazon Prime, Line of Duty – BBC One, Peaky Blinders – BBC One, Poldark – BBC One, Temple – Sky One, The Capture – BBC One, World On Fire – BBC One
Bronze: Good Omens – Amazon Prime
Silver: Peaky Blinders – BBC One
And the Gold goes to …
Winner: Line of Duty – BBC One
It’s the second award of the day for Jed Mercurio’s ‘Line of Duty‘, which also picked up Best Returning Non-Sci-fi Drama. This is the second time Mercurio has landed two awards in one year, having picked up British TV Show of the Year and Best Limited Series last time for ‘Bodyguard’.
As we mentioned previously a 6th season of ‘Line of Duty’ is currently underway, with ‘Boardwalk Empire’ star Kelly Macdonald joining as “guest lead” to play Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12. Martin Compston (D.S. Steve Arnott), Vicky McClure (D.C. Kate Fleming), and Adrian Dunbar (Superintendent Ted Hastings) are all set to return.
No news on when ‘Line Of Duty’ Season 6 will premiere yet, but we are expecting it in 2020.
