Geektown Awards – Best Performances in a TV Show

For these categories, we move from the overall shows and take a closer look at the actors bringing the drama to life. These are often extremely close categories, but this year both the top male and female performers landed very comfortable wins. Here are the top two people you enjoyed watching over the last 12 months.

Best Male Performance in a TV Show

Nominees: Brian Cox – Succession, Damian Lewis – Billions, Jason Momoa – See, Kit Harrington – Game Of Thrones, Penn Badgley – You, Steve Carell – The Morning Show

Bronze: Brian Cox – Succession

Silver: Damian Lewis – Billions

And the Gold goes to …

Winner: Kit Harrington – Game Of Thrones

Whilst the final season of ‘Game Of Thrones’ was… shall we say, “not as good as maybe it should have been…”, star Kit Harrington did a brilliant job throughout the entire run. Whilst we didn’t feel the show as a whole deserved a place for Season 8, the acting across the drama has been top-notch, so it’s good to see the public giving Kit some recognition. As I’m sure fans will know, Kit’s next gig sees him team up with fellow GoT star Richard Madden, as he joins the cast of Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ for Phase 4 of the MCU.

Best Female Performance in a TV Show

Nominees: Emilia Clarke – Game Of Thrones, Jean Smart – Watchmen, Jodie Comer – Killing Eve, Merrit Weaver – Unbelievable, Olivia Colman – The Crown, Regina King – Watchmen

Bronze: Olivia Colman – The Crown

Silver: Emilia Clarke – Game Of Thrones

And the Gold goes to …

Winner: Jodie Comer – Killing Eve

It’s the second time in a row Jodie Comer has taken home this Gold award for her brilliant portrayal of the somewhat adorable and totally psychopathic Villanelle in Killing Eve. In Season 2, she continues her fabulous performance of a playful and funny, but also chilling and terrifying character.

What’s even more impressive with this win is fighting off some tough competition from two royal lines. Silver went to Emilia Clarke for her final season of ‘Game Of Thrones’ as Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons (not sure how we’d fit that on a trophy, to be honest…). Bronze goes to the brilliant Olivia “wins all the awards” Colman for her new role as Queen Elizabeth in ‘The Crown’.

Killing Eve‘ is expected to return for Season 3 in 2020 on BBC One & BBC Three.
