Tom Hiddleston Set As Lead For Netflix British Political Thriller ‘White Stork’

Tom Hiddleston trades magical mischief for political mischief, as he takes the lead in White Stork‘, a new Netflix British political thriller from Eleven, the people behind ‘Sex Education’.

The series sees Hiddleston as James Cooper, who is selected to run for a seat in parliament. When Asher Millan is sent to vet him for primetime, she quickly uncovers potentially damaging secrets buried deep in James’ past. Secrets that will threaten to blow everything apart – his career, his marriage, even the powerful people backing his campaign.

The 10-episode series is written by and exec produced by Chris Dunlop (‘Jericho’, ‘Deep State’) with Kristoffer Nyholm (‘Taboo’, ‘The Enfield Haunting’) set to direct. Eleven, the production company behind Netflix hit ‘Sex Education’, E4’s ‘Gap Year’, and Sky drama ‘The Enfield Haunting’ will produce the drama.

The series sees Hiddleston return to British tv drama for the first time since 2016. He last appeared on the small screen in smash-hit ‘The Night Manager’ which earned him a Golden Globe win and an Emmy nomination. He is also returning in 2021 to reprise his role as everyone’s favourite trickster god ‘Loki’ for a series on Disney+. That series follows the version of Loki who absconded with the Tesseract in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, creating an alternate timeline.

No news yet on when White Stork will premiere on Netflix, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
