Katee Sackhoff To Reprise Role Of Bo-Katan In ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2

Some more rumoured casting has landed for The Mandalorian Season 2 as reports fly that Katee Sackhoff will be reprising her role as Bo-Katan Kryze in the upcoming series.

If you’re unaware of the character of Bo-Katan, Sackhoff previously voiced the Mandalorian warrior in the ‘Star Wars: Clone Wars’ and ‘Star Wars Rebels’ animated series. This would be the first time she has played the character in live-action. Given the events at the end of ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 1, it makes perfect sense that she would show up in some capacity in Season 2, however you might want to skip the next 2 paragraphs if you want to avoid spoilers!

During the Clone Wars, Bo-Katan was a lieutenant in the radical/terrorist Mandalorian splinter group Death Watch, second in command to leader Pre Vizsla. However, when Darth Maul gained possession of the Darksaber – a legendary weapon crafted by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian ever inducted into the Jedi Order – he kills Pre Vizsla and takes the throne of Mandalore, but Bo-Katan refuses to follow him. This leads to Bo-Katan bringing the Jedi and the Republic to lay siege to Mandalore and remove Maul from power. Later, during the events of ‘Star Wars Rebels’, Bo-Katan takes possession of the Darksaber herself, using it to unite the Mandalorian clans, and gaining the title of Mand’alor.

We now know from the finale of ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 1, something seems to have gone badly wrong for Bo-Katan, when Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), the leader of an Imperial remnant on the planet Nevarro, appears to confront Mando and his group, and is wielding the Darksaber… What we don’t yet know is how he got his hands on it. Did Bo-Katan end up handing it over to Gideon, which seems extremely unlikely given its significance to the Mandalorians, or are we going to see some sort of flashback where Gideon takes it by force? We’ll have to wait and see.

Along with voicing Bo-Katan, Katee Sackhoff, of course, is best known for playing Starbuck in the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ series. Since then she has starred in the series ‘Longmire’, Netflix sci-fi ‘Another Life’, and popped up in ‘The Flash’ as Amunet Black, aka Blacksmith.

As with a lot of the casting so far, this is another rumour (originally posted by /Film.) The only officially confirmed actor for ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 at the moment is Pedro Pascal who will be back as Mando. Although not officially confirmed, it seems likely we will be seeing more of Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon, along with a few other faces from the first season. Other rumoured new castmembers include ‘Aliens’ and ‘Terminator’ actor Michael Biehn as a bounty hunter from Mando’s past, Rosario Dawson (‘Daredevil’), who is believed to have been cast as fan-favourite Jedi, Ahsoka Tano, and Temuera Morrison (‘Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones’) who is said to be playing the legendary Boba Fett.

One thing Disney has confirmed is that ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 is definitely on track for its original October 2020 release date. Despite the global pandemic causing havoc with filming at the moment, the series had already completed filming and is moving along nicely in post-production right now. Disney’s new CEO, Bob Chapek, has said there are “no delays” on ‘The Mandalorian’.

The Mandalorian‘ Season 2 is set to premiere October 2020 on Disney+.
