The #SnyderCut Of ‘Justice League’ Gets First Clip… Darkseid Is Coming…
HBO Max has just released a tiny teaser for the hugely anticipated #SnyderCut of ‘Justice League’, which comes to the US streaming service in 2021.
I’m sure most of you know the story, but for those of you that somehow missed the background, Zack Snyder was the original director of the film but stepped down following a family tragedy. This resulted in Joss Whedon taking the helm, and rather altering the direction of the movie. After some rather… negative feedback… on the release, rumours started to circulate that Snyder had his own cut of the film. This was later confirmed, and whilst it was missing some VFX and audio, it was a pretty complete version. On hearing this, fans (and also some of the movie’s stars) began to campaign to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. Warner Bros resisted… until last month, when it was announced ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ would be released on HBO Max.
This first clip doesn’t give away much which wasn’t already out in public knowledge. The brief snippet shows Gal Gadot as Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) as she seemingly discovers the imminent arrival of a major DC villain – Darkseid.
When Snyder himself originally tweeted out the clip, he also hinted there is a lot more to come during the recently announced DC FanDome event, which will be accessible online for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com on Saturday, 22nd August 2020. You can read more about the event here.
What we don’t yet know is the length of the new cut, or where it may air in the UK (although I would say somewhere on Sky is very likely!) The film is said to have a 3.5hr runtime, but may actually be split up into 6 separate episodes, running more like a tv series. Along with Darkseid, the new version is also rumoured to have a number of other characters in it who didn’t make the cinematic release.
The ‘Justice League’ screenplay is by Chris Terrio, with story by Chris Terrio & Zack Snyder, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film’s producers are Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, with executive producers Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Jim Rowe, Ben Affleck, Wesley Coller, Curtis Kanemoto, and Chris Terrio.
We’ll let you know when we hear more on ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’, but I would definitely check out DCFanDome.com on Saturday, 22nd August 2020.
