‘Why Women Kill’ Gets September UK Premiere Date On Alibi
UKTV’s Alibi has set a September UK premiere date for Season 1 of dark comedy ‘Why Women Kill‘ from ‘Desperate Housewives’ creator Marc Cherry it has been announced.
The series details the lives of three women living in three different decades: Beth Ann, a housewife in the ’60s (Ginnifer Goodwin – ‘Once Upon a Time’), a socialite in the ’80s (Lucy Liu – ‘Elementary’) and a lawyer in 2018 (Kirby Howell-Baptiste – ‘The Good Place’), each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The show will examine how the roles of women have changed, but how their reaction to betrayal… has not.
Goodwin stars as Beth Ann, a housewife in 1963, who lives her life with a sunny disposition and whose world revolves around her husband (Sam Jaeger – ‘Law & Order True Crime’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’). That all changes when she discovers he is having an affair.
Liu portrays Simone. Elegant, stylish, effervescent, Simone is the picture of urbane confidence, moving through the world as if it were a delightful movie starring herself. Smugly superior, a woman for whom appearances mean everything, she thrives on shopping and throwing parties, seemingly happily married to her indulgent husband, Karl (Jack Davenport – ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Coupling’), who thinks she is simply fabulous. However, Simone’s world is upended when she learns that Karl has been cheating on her… with a guy…
Howell-Baptiste plays Taylor, a fiercely intelligent, kick-ass lawyer who is married to Eli (Reid Scott – ‘Veep’) but is also bisexual. Their solution to this is an open marriage, and that is all working fine until Taylor’s invites her lover (Alexandra Daddario – ‘True Detective’, ‘American Horror Story’) to stay for the weekend…
