‘Top Gear’ Shifts To BBC One With October Premiere Date

We might be in the middle of a global pandemic, but that hasn’t stopped three lads mucking about in cars, as Top Gear returns for Season 29 with a new home on BBC One this October.

Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris all return for the new season which includes such stunts as the trio driving around a giant wall of death constructed inside an empty Alexandra Palace driving a triumvirate of old insurance write-offs, and race down a ski-slope in Cyprus via in a bunch of rental cars…

Other things to look forward to include the boys spending 24 hours inside their cars in Bolton, and a triple test of the finest 200mph supercars from the Eighties and Nineties featuring a Ferrari F40, a Jaguar XJ220, and a Lamborghini Diablo… and a crash… The group also put three little electric cars to the test by racing them around an empty Alton Towers, and Paddy shows off his latest project: an all-terrain, fully-electric Ice-cream van! Oh, and The Stig drives a tank…

“I’ve always dreamed of having a theme park to myself for the day although these aren’t necessarily the circumstances I’d have chosen,” commented Paddy McGuinness about the Alton Towers feature. “Mustn’t grumble though, it’s great to get the gang back together after lockdown and we’re raring to go – two-metres apart at all times of course!”

Along with the three presenters, the audience is also back, albeit in a socially distanced way! Still filmed at Dunsfold – just outside of the hangar, rather than in it – 160 cars and 500 people became a drive-in audience for the show!

Top Gear‘ Season 29 premieres Sunday, 4th October 2020 at 8pm on its new home, BBC One.
