‘This Is Us’ Season 5 To Premiere Day After The US Broadcast From October On Amazon Prime UK
Smash hit US drama ‘This Is Us‘ is returning to weekly airing in the UK, as Amazon announces Season 5 will premiere the day after the USA broadcast on the UK streaming service from October.
‘This Is Us’ chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their 37-year-old kids, Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfilment in the present day. This grounded, life-affirming dramedy reveals how the tiniest events in our lives impact who we become, and how the connections we share with each other can transcend time, distance and even death.
Whilst ‘This Is Us’ has been a mega-hit in the US, the drama has struggled to find a foothold on this side of the Atlantic (although that is arguably due to it being shoved around from network to network…) The chequered UK broadcast history began on Channel 4 back in December 2016 who aired season one, only for the second season to be moved over onto More4. Channel 4 then opted not to pick up the third season, leaving it in limbo, until Amazon began adding the drama as boxsets in 2019. This new development with Season 5 will be the first time ever ‘This Is Us’ has aired “next day” in the UK.
Like most shows at the moment, filming on Season 5 was delayed a little due to the pandemic, however, it is now back in full swing following all COVID safety protocols, leading creator Dan Fogelman to tweet this humorous photo of stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore:

‘This Is Us‘ Season 5 premieres 28th October 2020 with a two-part opener on Amazon Prime UK. New episodes will be available every Wednesday.
