Netflix Renews ‘Space Force’ For Season 2

Netflix has handed a 2nd Season to Steve Carell & Greg Daniels comedy Space Force the streaming service has announced.

‘Space Force’ follows Carell as four-star general Mark R. Naird,  a decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, who is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Sceptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colourful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.

Alongside Carell, John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake also star.

Behind the scenes on the show, the second season will be making a few changes, described as a “creative revamp”. Norm Hiscock (‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’) joins the series as exec producer and co-showrunner alongside Greg Daniels. It’s also been announced that co-star Jimmy O. Yang will join the writing team of the comedy. In addition, the production will move from Los Angeles to Vancouver in order to help do Netflix’s favourite thing when it comes to second seasons… save money on production.

Howard Klein (‘The Office’) serves as executive producer, along with Carell, Daniels and Hiscock. 3 Arts Entertainment (‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, ‘The Office’, ‘Parks and Rec’) produce the series. Season 2 goes into production in 2021.

Space Force‘ Season 1 can be watched on Netflix right now.
