Which Movie Franchise Showcases The Most Dangerous Driving?

Thrilling motor races, high-speed chases and daring motor stunts keep movie fans returning to certain franchises time and again. For over 60 years, James Bond has been wowing luxury car lovers with jaw-dropping stunts in Aston Martins. In recent years, The Fast and the Furious franchise has kept moviegoers transfixed to the big screen.

As exciting as these scenes are when safely contained to movie sets and cinemas, the reckless driving featured in many of these films would see most of the drivers banned from driving for life. Luxury car dealers, Jardine Motors, recently analysed some of the most famous movie franchises to see just how dangerous the driving is.

Jardine Motors collated a list of UK driving offences and penalties and benchmarked the driving in film franchises such as James Bond, Batman, Mission Impossible and more against them. Ultimately, it turns out you would not want any of your favourite action or superheroes on the road with you.

So which movie franchises are the most dangerous? And which character would you least want behind the wheel of your family car?

Most dangerous film franchises

No prizes for guessing the number one most dangerous driving film franchise. The Fast and the Furious franchise topped the list of most dangerous drivers, scenes, and penalty points accrued. With 2017’s The Fate of the Furious clocking up the most offences in the franchise.

Following hot on their tyre marks, the Batman franchise and the Jason Bourne movies round up the top three most dangerous movie franchises, according to the Jardine analysis.

Most dangerous drivers in movies

Rather obviously, the three most dangerous drivers in the films analysed came from the three most dangerous movie franchises. Dominic Toretto in The Fate of The Furious would have lost his license eight times over and clocked up 98 penalty points.

Batman, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, clocked up a whopping 97 points. While Jason Bourne in The Bourne Supremacy would have lost his license seven times with 93 points.

Most common driving offences

Most action scenes in the film franchises analyses violated many driving offences. ‘Driving without reasonable consideration’ was the top offence, as almost all characters paid no attention to other road users.

‘Dangerous driving’ came in second with 24 offences in the films studied, which would have collected 244 penalty points combined. ‘Exceeding the speed limit’ unsurprisingly rounds up the top three most common offences.

Don’t try any of this on the road

Hopefully, it should go without saying, but do not try any of your favourite movie characters stunts at home or on the road. Enjoy them where they should be, on the big screen at the cinema – once they open again.
