Sony Releases Trailer For ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’

by Dave Elliott

Sony has released a trailer for the upcoming movie ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’, which sees Tom Hardy return to the comic book character role.

Tom Hardy is back on the big screen as Eddie Brock, alongside his symbiote sidekick, Venom. I have a feeling this characterisation of the beloved comic book character will, once again, somewhat divide fans, as the trailer opens with Eddie making breakfast… with “help” from Venom. It then goes on to focus on Woody Harrelson, who takes up the role of villain Cletus Kasady, better known as the red symbiote Carnage (last seen in the mid-credits scene in the first movie.)

The trailer also gives our first look at Stephen Graham, who plays Detective Mulligan, a cop investigating Cletus’ victims. Additional cast includes Michelle Williams, who returns as Eddie’s ex-fiancée, Anne Weying, and Naomie Harris, who is believed to be playing the Marvel character Shriek.

The film is directed by the brilliant Andy Serkis, a man who knows something about dealing with CGI characters and motion-capture acting, not only as the founder of The Imaginarium Studios, but also having played Gollum (‘Lord Of The Rings’), Caesar (‘Planet of the Apes’), Snoke (‘Star Wars’), and Baloo in ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’, which he also directed. The screenplay is by Kelly Marcel (‘Venom’, ‘Saving Mr. Banks’) from a story by Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel.

‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ is due to land in cinemas from 15th September 2021 in the UK and 24th September 2021 in the USA.
