‘Stargirl’: Season 2 Gets August UK Premiere Date On Amazon Prime
DC’s ‘Stargirl‘ is not only set to return to the UK this August on Amazon Prime, but will be doing so the day after the series premieres in the USA the streaming service has announced.
‘Stargirl’ follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger – ‘School of Rock’) who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. The series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series.
Joining Bassinger are Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez/Wildcat, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel/Dr. Mid-Nite, Cameron Gellman as Rick Tyler/Hourman, Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman/Shiv and Nick Tarabay as Eclipso.
For those of you trying to remember where we left things, Courtney and her pals had pretty much managed to defeat the “Injustice Society of America”, and the Whitmore/Dugan clan were left celebrating Christmas with the rest of the new, young, JSA team. However, it ended with the shocking reveal of a man who looked very much like the long-thought dead Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale), aka Starman, aka Courtney’s dad, turning up in California looking for Pat…
We don’t know exactly how things will play out in the second season, but we do know there are some new faces. Jonathan Cake (‘Empire’, ‘Desperate Housewives’) is set to play The Shade, an immortal supervillain, and former ISA member, who can generate and control shadows; Alkoya Brunson (‘Malibu Rescue’) appears as the DC hero Jakeem Thunder; Ysa Penarejo (‘Red Ruby’) stars as Jade, the daughter of Green Lantern, Alan Scott; And John Wesley Shipp is set to reprise his Arrowverse role as Jay Garrick, The Flash of Earth-3.
Geoff Johns (‘Arrow’, ‘Batwoman’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Titans’) serves as showrunner and executive produces the series with Melissa Carter (‘Queen Sugar’), who serves as co-showrunner, as well as Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. ‘Stargirl’ is produced by Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros Television.
‘Stargirl‘ Season 2 premieres Wednesday, 11th August 2021 on Amazon Prime UK. The series premieres Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 on The CW in the USA.
