It’s the beginning of the end in the official trailer, as ‘The Walking Dead‘ returns this August for its final extended 11th Season at its new UK home – STAR On Disney+.
Previously on ‘The Walking Dead’, our survivors confronted past demons and combated new threats, with friendships and relationships suffering from the mounting collateral damage that is the apocalypse. Alexandria is severely compromised, left a former shell of the home it once was from the carnage and devastation left behind by the Whisperers.
Now all who live in Alexandria struggle to refortify it and feed its increasing number of residents, which include the survivors from the fall of the Kingdom and the burning of Hilltop; along with Maggie and her new group, the Wardens. Alexandria has more people than it can manage to feed and protect. Their situation is dire as tensions heat up over past events and self-preservation rises to the surface within the ravaged walls.
They must secure more food while they attempt to restore Alexandria before it collapses like countless other communities they have come across throughout the years. But where and how? More haggard and hungrier than ever before, they must dig deeper to find the effort and strength to safeguard the lives of their children, even if it means losing their own.
The final 11th Season will be 24 episodes which are split into three parts. Part one premieres in August 2021, with part two landing in early 2022, and part three arriving in late 2022. The series previously aired on FOX UK, however, as Disney opted to shut down that channel, the final season has moved to STAR On Disney+ in the UK.
The trailer was revealed during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con@Home (watch the full panel below) this weekend. Hosted by Chris Hardwick, the panel featured The Walking Dead Universe CCO Scott M. Gimple, showrunner Angela Kang, Norman Reedus (Daryl), Melissa McBride (Carol), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Khary Payton (Ezekiel), and Eleanor Matsuura (Yumiko). Also joining the panel is Michael James Shaw (MCU’s Corvus Glaive, ‘Limitless’, ‘Blood & Treasure’) who plays Mercer, a member of the Commonwealth, the organisation behind those “stormtrooper-esque” soldiers the group has come across… Watch below to see the full panel!
‘The Walking Dead‘ Season 11a premieres Monday, 23rd August 2021 on STAR On Disney+. The drama premieres Sunday, August 22, 2021, on AMC in the USA, or you can stream it from August 15, 2021, if you have AMC+.
