The Wonderfully Bonkers ‘Doom Patrol’ Lands A Full Season 3 Trailer!

by Dave Elliott

After a teaser a few weeks ago, HBO Max has released the full trailer for the wonderfully bonkers Doom Patrol Season 3, which introduces us to new addition time-travelling Madame Rouge, played, rather appropriately give her CV, by Michelle Gomez.

Doom Patrol’ reimagines one of DC’s strangest group of heroes – Cliff Steele aka Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Larry Trainor aka Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Rita Farr aka Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby), Jane aka Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), and Victor Stone aka Cyborg (Joivan Wade) – who are back again to save the world.

The third season head through the looking glass with our super-powered gang of outcasts. Last seen at a decrepit amusement park where Chief (Timothy Dalton) witnessed his metahuman daughter, Dorothy (Abigail Shapiro) engaged in a fiery face-off with “The Candlemaker,” an ancient evil deity who will stop at nothing to fulfil his world-ending destiny… The new season opens on the culmination of Dorothy’s confrontation, which leads to a devastating loss. The Doom Patrol is at a difficult crossroads and each member struggles to face who they are and who they want to be. And things get a whole lot more complicated when Madame Rouge (played by the brilliant Michelle Gomez – ‘Doctor Who’s Missy, ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’) arrives in a time machine with a very specific mission… if only she could remember it

Also joining the cast are The Sisterhood of Dada, the Dead Boy Detective Agency, and The Brotherhood Of Evil.

“The Sisterhood of Dada” consists of Malcolm (Micah Joe Parker – ‘Vampire Diaries’, ‘The Flash’), a quiet, sensitive and thoughtful soul who would often rather be invisible than face this unforgiving world; Shelley Byron aka The Fog (Wynn Everett – ‘Agent Carter’, ‘Teenage Bounty Hunters’), a charming, seductive and poetic alleged terrorist; Lloyd Jefferson aka Frenzy (Miles Mussenden – ‘Cloak & Dagger’, ‘The Good Lord Bird’), a sculptor of strange life-like masks who is covered with tattoos and scars; Holly McKenzie aka Sleepwalk (Anita Kalathara – ‘Trolls: TrollsTopia’), a hard-partying, light-hearted ne’er do well; And Sachiko aka The Quiz (Gina Hiraizumi – ‘Mani’), a germaphobe whose crippling phobias mask awe-inspiring powers.

The Dead Boy Detective Agency consists of Edwin Payne (Ty Tennant – ‘War Of The Worlds’), who since dying 80 years ago due to a “clerical error” has seen horrors no one could imagine; Charles Rowland (Sebastian Croft – ‘Game Of Thrones’), a long-dead lad who does his best to be chipper, though his death by hypothermia and neglect haunts him; And Crystal Palace (Madalyn Horcher – ‘Origin’, ‘Gracepoint’), a sarcastic teenage medium whose only friends are Charles and Edwin.

The Brotherhood of Evil were an original Doom Patrol comic book villain group that first appeared in 1964. We see a few of them in the trailer including the superintelligent gorilla Monsieur Mallah, and The Brain… presented here as a brain in a jar…

‘Doom Patrol’ is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with Jeremy Carver, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Chris Dingess and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. The series is based on characters created for DC by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.

Doom Patrol‘ is set to premiere on September 23, 2021, on HBO Max in the USA. The series airs on STARZPLAY UK over here, usually once the US has finished its run, but no exact date yet!
