‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Gets A Teaser Trailer – Welcome To California

by Dave Elliott

Today is Stranger Things Day, i.e. November 6, 1983, was the day Will Byers disappeared and the world turned upside down…) To celebrate (or commemorate!) this occasion, Netflix has released a new teaser trailer for Season 4.

A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, ‘Stranger Things’ is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events. Beneath the surface of their ordinary town lurks an extraordinary supernatural mystery, along with top-secret government experiments and a dangerous gateway that connects our world to a powerful yet sinister realm. Friendships will be tested and lives will be altered as what they discover will change Hawkins and possibly the world — forever.

To remind you where we left things last season, “The Battle of Starcourt” saw the gang take down the Mind Flayer, but apparently lose Hopper (David Harbour) in the process. Joyce (Winona Ryder), Will (Noah Schnapp), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and a (now powerless) Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) are moving out of Hawkins, and say a tearful goodbye to Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Max (Sadie Sink) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer). Meanwhile, in the snowy Russian wasteland of Kamchatka, they have a captive Demogorgon… and an “American”… who is a very much alive Hopper!

This new trailer shows us where Eleven and the Byers family ended up – California. Eleven writes to Mike, explaining how everything is going “great” in her new home, but the pictures tell a different story, as she struggles to fit in. However, she is so happy Spring Break is coming and she gets to see Mike again, and it’s going to be brilliant!… Cue a series of shots of things exploding, gunfire and general carnage…

Whilst some things are changing in the upcoming season, others stay the same, as the show will be heading back to Hawkins High. The fourth season comes with a stack of new faces in the cast, including some very well-known names. On the school side, Amybeth McNulty (‘Anne with an E’) will play Vickie, a cool, fast-talking band nerd who catches the eye of one of our beloved heroes; Myles Truitt (‘Queen Sugar’, ‘Black Mafia Family’) will play Patrick, a Hawkins basketball star who has friends, talent, and a good life… until shocking events send his life spiralling out of control; Mason Dye (‘Bosch’, ‘The Goldbergs’) playing Jason Carver. Jason seemingly has it all – he’s handsome, he’s rich, he’s a sports star, and he’s dating the most popular girl in school. But as a new evil threatens Hawkins, Jason’s perfect world begins to unravel; Grace Van Dien (‘Charlie Says’, ‘The Village’) portrays Chrissy, Hawkins’ High lead cheerleader and the most popular girl in school. But beneath the seemingly perfect surface lies a dark secret; Joseph Quinn (‘Catherine the Great’, ‘Howards End’) portraying Eddie Munson, an audacious 80’s metalhead who runs The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club. Hated by those who don’t understand him – and beloved by those who do – Eddie will find himself at the terrifying epicentre of this season’s mystery; And Regina Ting Chen (‘Queen of the South’, ‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier’) joins as Ms. Kelly, a popular guidance counsellor who cares deeply for her students—especially those struggling the most.

Other new cast includes Eduardo Franco (‘Booksmart’, ‘The Binge’) playing Argyle, Jonathan’s new best friend, a fun-loving stoner who proudly delivers delicious pizza pies for Surfer Boy Pizza; Sherman Augustus (‘Into the Badlands’, ‘Westworld’) as Lt. Colonel Sullivan. An intelligent, no-nonsense man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins once and for all; Nikola Djuricko (‘Genius’, ‘In The Land of Blood and Honey’) portraying Yuri, a seedy and unpredictable Russian smuggler who loves bad jokes, cold hard cash, and crunchy style peanut butter; Jamie Campbell Bower (‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’, ‘Sweeney Todd’) as Peter Ballard, a caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Tired of the brutality he witnesses day after day, will Peter finally take a stand?; The legendary Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise, ‘V’ Television Series) as Victor Creel, a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s; And Tom Wlaschiha (‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Jack Ryan’) playing Dmitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper. Dmitri is smart, cunning, and charming… but can he be trusted?

In addition to all those, it seems Matthew Modine will be returning as Dr. Martin Brenner, the man who ran the Hawkins National Laboratory where he performed experiments on children with psychokinetic abilities.

Stranger Things‘ Season 4 will premiere in Summer 2022 on Netflix UK and worldwide. If you want to keep track of this or any other show, you can add it via our Never Miss system, and you’ll be notified when it gets a UK premiere date.
