‘Ozark’: Season 4 Part 1 Gets Trailer, Premiering January On Netflix

by Dave Elliott

The trailer has landed for part one of the 4th and final season of Ozark, which is due to premiere this January on Netflix.

‘Ozark’ follows the Byrdes – Marty (Bateman), Wendy (Laura Linney) and their teenage kids, Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) and Jonah (Skylar Gaertner), who are, for all intents and purposes, your average family with ordinary lives… Except Marty is a Chicago financial advisor who also serves as the top money launderer for the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. When things go awry, he must uproot his family from the skyscrapers of Chicago and relocate to the lazy lake region of the Missouri Ozarks.

Season 2 continued to follow Marty and his family as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del (Esai Morales) out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggled to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), whose father Cade (Trevor Long) has been released from prison. The stakes got even higher than before and The Byrdes realize they had to go all in before they can get out.

Season 3 picked up six months on, as the Byrdes finally have the casino up and running, but Mart and Wendy were fighting for control of the family’s destiny. Marty preached keeping the status quo and was aided by an alliance with Helen and drug cartel leader Omar Navarro (Felix Solis), whilst Wendy plotted for expansion. But when Wendy’s brother Ben (Tom Pelphrey – ‘Iron Fist’, ‘Banshee’) came into town, everyone’s lives were thrown into chaos.

As we head into Season 4, freedom from the cartel is seemingly within reach, but fraying familial bonds may prove to be the Byrdes’ ultimate undoing. No one gets out clean

Since its launch in 2017, the drama has received fourteen Emmy nominations, bagging a win for Bateman for Outstanding Directing and one for Julia Garner for Outstanding Supporting Actress. It also has landed two Golden Globe nominations and six Screen Actors Guild nominations.

The series from MRC Television was created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams who executive produce alongside Jason Bateman, Chris Mundy and John Shiban. Bateman also directed multiple episodes of the drama.

Ozark‘ Season 4, Part 1, premieres Friday, 21st January 2022 on Netflix UK and worldwide.
