The ‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ series premiere date has been moved back by two days (Booo!), BUT to make up for the small delay, Disney+ has announced they will be releasing the first two episodes together! (Yay!)
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ begins 10 years after the dramatic events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
The series stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, and also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. They are joined by Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse who reprise their prequel trilogy roles as Owen Lars and Aunt Beru. Cast for the series includes Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Rupert Friend (Homeland), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Sung Kang (Power), Simone Kessell (The Crossing), Maya Erskine (PEN15), O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Benny Safdie.
McGregor made the announcement about the schedule change in the video above. Whilst the first two episodes will now be released on Friday, 27th May, subsequent episodes will still drop on Wednesdays, as originally planned, meaning there will be an even shorter gap between episodes two and three. Disney+ hasn’t given a reason for the change, although it is a holiday weekend in the USA, which could be part of the decision. It does, however, draw some battle lines against rival streamer Netflix, as 27th is the release date for the much anticipated 4th Season of ‘Stranger Things’…

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi‘ premieres FRIDAY, 27th MAY 2022 on Disney+ worldwide with episodes one and two. Subsequent episodes will be released on Wednesdays.
